Great job comes with great responsibility and so a judge post is considered for responsible work. It needs absolute skills to judge someone and identify whether the person is guilty or not. It becomes more complicated for a judge when entire nations depend and believes that you will take a wise decision without being partial.
Is Judge or Magistrate are the same?
No, judge and magistrate are not the same, there is a difference in their powers. A Judge consists of more administrative power and is considered as a supreme body in many legal cases handling cases like criminal cases, federal cases, constitutional cases, and high priority cases. A judge is entitled to control the hearing of the court either alone or with a jury.
Whereas a Magistrate is a state officer handling small cases such as marriage, divorce, ec acts and dowry act etc. A magistrate is appointed by Judge in the magistrate courts with limited authority of powers and jurisdiction.
How to become a judge?
The candidate has to clear the Judicial Service Examination conducted by the Public Service Commission of a respective state in order to become a judge. Also, the candidate must retain a law graduate degree from the recognized university with the enrollment as an advocate in the state bar council. The age limit criteria may vary from state to state.
Candidate must be above 21 Years age and below to the 35 Years. Age relaxation for reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC &PWD) as per government norms.
What are the skills and qualities are necessary to become a judge?
Becoming a judge requires more than education and interest in the law. In addition to being appointed or elected to the position, judges should have certain qualities to help them serve exceptionally and faithfully.
