About CLAT

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a non - statutory body established under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the convenience of students seeking admission to the country's various national law universities. An entrance test is conducted to provide a list of candidates for admission to their UG / PG programs based on ' merit - cum - preference, as per the eligibility, reservation and other criteria laid down under the respective statutes of the participating Universities. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all - India entrance test conducted by 21 National Law Universities (NLUs) on rotation for admission to their undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The following National Law Universities (along with intake) accept CLAT scores to admit students to their five-year LLB programs every year:

CLAT 2019 Notification

Last Date of Registration: 15 April 2019
Date of Exam: 26 May 2019 (3:00 PM to 5:00 PM)

Eligibility Criteria: -

  1. 45% marks in Qualifying Exam (Class XII or equivalent) in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved /OBC /Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories. 
  2. 40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories. Candidates who appear in the March / April 2019 qualifying exam are also eligible to appear in the offline CLAT-2019 exam. However, at the time of admission, they will be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination, failing which they will lose their right to admission.
(There is no age limit for CLAT)

Syllabus: -

CLAT 2019 will be conducted in offline mode with 200 questions from five different topics, including English (Comprehension), General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. Scope and coverage of questions under different subject areas:

Each question carries 1 mark and for every incorrect attempt, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

The results of CLAT 2019 are expected to be released in June 2019. The first merit list of selected candidates is expected to be released by Mid-June 2019. CLAT results can be accessed by logging in individually on the official CLAT website to the registered account. In the result, the candidate will be able to check their score, All India Rank and category rank (if published). In the second week of June, CLAT will also publish the College Allotment List, after which Rs. 50,000/- counselling fee will be charged to the candidates who have been allocated the seat in an NLU within the stipulated dates, failing which the candidate will lose his/her seat and will not be considered for further process of admission in 2019.
